An integrated multidisciplinary approach to identifying threats to the environment, biodiversity, climate and health is in the center of the Priority Research Area “Research for the Earth” – one of the five PRAs of the University of Warsaw that make up the Excellence Initiative – Research University. As part of the PRA “Research for the Earth”, we planned to strengthen the research potential of the Białowieża Geobotanical Station (BSG) in the years 2020-2026 by employing two additional researchers and creating an international research network of scientific institutes researching forest ecosystems. Competitions for scientific positions will be announced in May 2020. We also plan to thoroughly modernize the BSG infrastructure, including: upgrading guest rooms for visiting researchers, equipping and modernizing laboratories, building a phytotron and an automated experimental greenhouse.
